Jonathan Friz came of age within the United Church of Christ. A significant part of his ministry these days is sponsoring 10 Days of Prayer annually leading up to the Global Day of Prayer. In his own words: “My heart is for the John 17 unity that is the motto of the UCC. As I asked God how this would be possible, He led me into organizing extended seasons of united, believing prayer like the 10 Days of Prayer Northfield. Jonathan Edwards has been an inspiration and encouragement in this journey. As I was reading his Humble Attempt to promote Extraordinary Prayer I was absolutely convinced that the 10 Days of Prayer at Northfield was a fulfillment of his dreams and his prayers.”
Here we reprint a special invitation to Pastors and their family to attend in 2008.
Northfield, MA is the site of the school built by D. L. Moody where Moody called for a “Convocation of Prayer…to wait upon the Lord for a new enduement of power from on High”

A Special Invitation to Pastors and Christian Leaders
“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.” Ec. 3:1
Dear Pastors and Leaders,
Blessings to you:
First of all, we honor you and thank God for your ministry in the Body of Christ. The Church of God has been blessed and built up by your service.
It is a well attested fact that leaders in the church are extremely busy. We agree that there is much work to be done to advance the Kingdom of God in New England. However, we must listen to what the Spirit says: “In repentance and rest you shall be saved/In quietness and trust is your strength.” (Is. 30:15 NASB)
We are inviting you to join us and devote ten days to rest and quietness before the Lord. There are no speakers and no agenda—simply an atmosphere of prayer and peace where you can rest beside still waters and have your strength restored by the Comforter.
We recognize that ten days represents a substantial sacrifice of time. However, we are convinced that this is a particular call from God for this time. We are also convinced that this sacrifice of time for prayer and rest is Biblical, that it is a necessary anti-dote to an idolatrously busy secular and church culture, and that this time of rest and quietness will result in ministers who are mightily empowered by God.
Most importantly, we are convinced that this type of extraordinary prayer by the leaders of the Church will delight and gladden the heart of God. Scripture says it is a fearful thing to fall into God’s hands when He is angry-how much more joyful, pleasant, and glorious it is to rest in His hands when He is delighted!
In Christ,
Jonathan and David
